Saab Sonett 1956-74 & Saab 99 1968-84!
Saab's rides have always been the real deal, classic as can be, with a hood that pops open forward,
them fancy plush seats like them high-flying jets from the 70s and 80s. And let me tell yall, they had
upholstery with all sorts of colors that matched the paint outside. I reckon it's a darn shame that Saab
never caught on quite like Volvo did here in Norway. Up in Finland and, of course, Sweden, they used 'em
as police cars, but not here in Norway. And there weren't all that many of 'em used for showin' off either.
That's where the Volvo 240 and Volvo Amazon really took the reins.
Now, that Saab Sonett mk1, or just plain Saab 94, is a sporty number that Saab made a mere six of between 1956 and 1958, before goin' on to churn out nearly two thousand more as the mk2 version. By the way, there's a whole different car they made between 1966 and 1969, the mk3, and they managed to roll out nearly 8500 of those. But the production came to a screechin' halt in 1974 thanks to them American emissions requirements. Nowadays, them cars are a rare find and mighty fine to collect.
