The Volvo 240 60th-anniversary model was produced in decent numbers, so they're not considered very special. I saw one once in the late '90s going down a steep hill in Kjelsås, Oslo (a place well-known for often being in the papers due to its very poor road conditions). This was while my sister was in a ski race there, and I was walking around the area with my mom. The guys driving down the hill, seemingly just of legal age, around 18-19 years old, were obviously frustrated with all the chaos related to the ski race. They shook their heads as they drove down the hill.
I also think I've seen these anniversary models several other times. For example, I suspect that a 240 we got in at the auto shop in high school, which was intended for rallycross, was one of these models.
I came across a Volvo 262 on a family trip in Sweden. We were in a hurry, heading north along rv 172. South of Årjäng, a Volvo 262 started following us and kept pace for quite a while. I remember thinking "mafia, mafia, mafia!" for a long time back then because the car looked a lot like a real-deal mafia car. The guy behind the wheel could easily have been straight out of an action movie where he played the villain, especially with that slick sunglasses look. I'm also pretty sure I've seen the Volvo 264 several times in Norway. I suspect I might have seen a 1987 Volvo 240 Diamant in Norway with French plates.
Volvo 242 Homologated Turbo Group A
(Volvo 244 dl California special)
(Same anniversary model that I saw in Grefsen, in Norway)
(Volvo Bluestar in the picture above no longer exists. But there are still some others remaining.)
