Donald and Uncle Scrooge's Nash Models and Grandma Duck's Ohio Electric


Tha 1949-1951 Nash Statesman was a car ol' Uncle Scrooge done laid eyes on at a dealership once, though I cain't rightly recall if he went on an' bought it or not. It's a mighty fine pick fer a limousine or fer them fancier, more highfalutin' occasions.

Both Gladstone Gander an' even ol' Donald Duck done won themselves a Nash Ambassador Country Club back in the day. 'Course, Donald had to turn 'round an' sell his off to pay debts or fix some mess his bad luck stirred up. These cars sure are slick as a whistle, just right fer a spin 'round town—jest like Donald an' Gladstone done did with Daisy when they won 'em.



The 1917 Ohio Electric is the car Grandma Duck's been drivin' since forever—ain't never sat behind the wheel of nothin' else. These ol' cars fit like a glove in today's world, what with all the talk 'bout climate change an' folks bein' mindful 'bout the environment.

Toyota Hiace 1967-89 andToyota Liteace mk1 1970-85!

I remember seein' two Toyota Hiace MK2 s parked in a garage belonging to some mechanics who lived just down the road from where I grew up. As for the Toyota Liteace, someone I know had one back in the early '80s. The Liteace MK2 is a different kind of vehicle compared to the Hiace MK2, but they look similar enough that I reckon they belong together in this post. My parents’ friends also had a Toyota Hiace in the '90s. Oddly enough, the fella had the same name as the guy who drove the Liteace back in the early '80s. The Toyota Hiace is known as a cool classic camper van, perfect for goin' on holidays. I once spotted a 1985 model for sale down in Grenland in the old Telemark county, and it was covered in stickers from the orienteering event Sørlandsgaloppen. Panhard and Levassor

Panhard an’ Levassor  or as folks call it, Panhard et Levassor  was a French car brand, one of the first in the world right alongside Mercedes. It got its start back in 1887, just a year after Benz rolled out its first car in 1886. Later on, Panhard an’ Levassor became part of Citroën, while its truck division went over to Renault. Now, Panhard stuck around as part of Renault’s military ACMAT trucks (which I’ve written about in my blog for gearheads) all the way up till 2018. After that? Well, it’s history. But lemme tell ya, those Panhard an’ Levassor cars from about 1900 to the 1930s? Man, those are some badass vintage rides. “Drive a Panhard et Levassor, and you’re the king of the classic car meets!” '

Chevrolet Bel Air from the 1950s and Mercedes-Benz from the 1920s–1940s!

I first got introduced to the Chevrolet Bel Air by a buddy back in grade school. He brought a car magazine with him, and it had some real nice photos of the Bel Air. This same guy lived down the street from us, and their yard was full of Mercedes and Volkswagens just sittin' around. None of 'em were much good or anything fancy, not really antiques either. This was back in the '90s, and the cars were maybe from the '60s at most. But they did have one genuine classic, a badass Mercedes from the 1920s or '30s. One day, I noticed they’d cleared that Mercedes out of their garage. They were fixin' to expand the property and put part of it up for sale. A good while later, that car shows back up, hauled in on a trailer, and lookin’ absolutely mint! I reckon they’d taken that whole ride apart and restored every piece. The neighbor was a mechanic, after all. No idea where that car is now, but I sure hope it’s still cruisin’ around as one fine piece of vintage machinery! M...
