Citroen Traction Avant 1934-1956!

The Citroën Traction Avant — now that right there was one mighty futuristic machine when it hit the road back in 1934. This thing was way ahead of its time: first car in the whole dang world with front‑wheel drive and a unibody body shell. No wonder it handled like a dream — you could whip it through the curves faster than most folks would dare, and it’d just keep on stickin’ to the asphalt.

That’s exactly why the mob and bank robbers loved ’em all through the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s — maybe even into the early ’60s, a few years after production stopped in ’56. Then Citroën rolled out the DS19, the ‘Goddess,’ which got even more famous. That car set a record for pre‑orders when it debuted in ’56 — a record nobody beat ’til Tesla’s Model 3 came along in 2016.

The Traction Avant showed up all over the Tintin comics too — always as the bad guys’ ride. And sure, Tintin always got away, but havin’ a Traction Avant chasin’ you sure wouldn’t make life easy.

And let’s be honest: the Traction Avant’s a straight‑up lady‑magnet, just look at the pictures. But it’s also a gentleman’s car — and a mafia magnet.

“So drive it like a real mafia outlaw, a Tintin‑style escape artist, or a proper gentleman on those narrow, twisty Norwegian backroads — pretend you’re keepin’ an eye on the traffic ahead — and you’ll be the true king of the classic‑car scene.”

“Drive it like a smokin’ hot model gal with black hair, dark lipstick and a cigarette in her hand, and you’ll still be the king of the classic‑car crowd.”

“Or you can drive it like a cool, sexy male model dude — maybe with a cigarette too, if that’s your style (though the writer of this blog ain’t exactly a fan of smokin’, just sayin’).”
