Fiat Dino and Ferrari Dino

The Ferrari Dino — now that right there was the real deal from Maranello. Ferrari actually managed to squeeze a V6 outta just a 1.6‑liter engine, and they named the whole thing after Enzo Ferrari’s boy, Dino, who passed away way too young at just twenty‑four. The Dino’s been famous among Ferrari folks and collectors for ages.

But here’s somethin’ a lotta people don’t know: the Fiat group built their own version too — the Fiat Dino. And the Ferrari Dino GT and GTS? Well, the Norwegian songwriter Arne Bendiksen owned one of those when he was in his fifties, still pretty spry back in the 1980s. He passed on in 2009 at the age of eighty‑two.

Point is — the Dino, whether it’s the Ferrari or the Fiat — that’s one fine piece of Italian machinery.”
