Don't let your car end up scrapped due to tough times!

Don't let your car end up in the scrapyard because of tough times. As most folks know by now, things have gotten real expensive after the pandemic, with the ongoing climate crisis that the UN and nations worldwide are tryin' to tackle, not to mention the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the crazy inflation that's now inevitable.

Here in Norway, we're actually kinda lucky, with inflation at 6-7 percent, which is less than half of what we saw in the late '80s and early '90s when interest rates were around 14 percent, or maybe even higher. But let me tell ya, compared to Argentina, where they're dealin' with a whopping 160% inflation rate, we're still sittin' pretty.

With all this in mind, it ain't sustainable or economical to keep rollin' around in gas guzzlers like the ones I've been talkin' about. Gas and diesel prices, especially gas prices, are sky-high. Electric cars might actually be cheaper to run, even with the current high cost of electricity. The best bet is to either park your car or convert it to zero emissions.

Lately, it's been breakin' my heart seein' all them cars sittin' for sale on Finn without findin' a new owner 'cause folks can't afford 'em. And the worst part is, these cars might end up gettin' scrapped or sold off to Africa, where they'll be put through the wringer.

I recently experienced this myself with a 1980s Toyota Hiace camper van, kinda like a hippie bus, reminiscent of the Volkswagen Samba. It had some rad vintage vacation stickers that I'm afraid are now buried under mud and desert sand down in Africa, where it's probably spendin' its last days.

So, don't let your car end up gettin' scrapped or run into the ground in Africa just 'cause times are tough. Convert it to zero emissions or let it sit until the time is right.

Here are two examples of zero-emission converted vintage cars: a Ford Cortina from around 1960 and a Plymouth Belvedere from the 1970s. While they may not be from the early 1900s, they still hold nostalgic value as classic rides from the '60s and '70s.
