Various early vehicles from 4000-5000 BC to around 1500 AD to 2024!
Folks,
Ah've already scribbled 'bout Ferdinand Verbiest and Joseph Cugnot's steam contraptions from the 1600s and 1700s and various steam wagons from the 1800s. But d'ya reckon ya know that the oldest wheeled rig in Norway's history is over 1200 years old, reckon it's from 'round 820 AD?
That Norwegian Oseberg Wagon's on display at the Viking Museum in Oslo, makin' it the oldest wheeled contraption in Norway, hailin' from 820 AD, that's 1200 years back in 2020. Some folks might argue that horse-drawn rigs ain't rightly called cars, which is fair, but they got wheels and they're a human invention. 'Sides, it's true that horses provided the horsepower, and eventually, cars took over from 'em, but remember, once upon a time, it was just horses, donkeys, camels, or our own two feet gettin' us around on land.
Now, to the point, researchers reckon horse-drawn wagons were in use by us folks between 3000 and 4200 BC, accordin' to Wikipedia. Might even stretch back to 5000 BC or more. So, humans been rollin' on wheels for over 5000-6000 years, but think about how much farther we've wandered since our species, Homo sapiens, came about 'bout 30,000 years ago. 'Round the 500s, or maybe even earlier, wind-powered carts showed up in China, still used today in competitions. And just in 2023, NASA even got a wind-powered cart called the Venus Landsail rover with a project aimin' to be the first human-made thing set on Venus' surface.
Back in 1335, Guido Da Vigevano's wind turbine cart rolled in, the first proper automobile, at least powered by a human invention. Oh, and Leonardo Da Vinci's Automobile from 1495 mighta been the world's first vehicle not entirely reliant on both horses and wind, 'cause Guido Da Vigevano's was a proper WIND TURBINE CART. The contraption that was the first car to be entirely driven by a human invention, not wind and horses, was admittedly a bit less fancy than Guido da Vigevano's, and today, imagine this, scientists are tinkering away tryna make wind turbine carts to tackle the wind and weather crisis, or rather the climate crisis, which might have more to do with rising temperatures and human-made emissions. And back in the 1930s, they were also messin' 'round with wind turbine carts, but those were more like propeller-driven vehicles and were just plain outta line, right? I mean, all propellor, no control, those carts were all propeller and were completely unwieldy.

The Oseberg Wagon is currently on display at the Viking Museum in Bygdøy and is about 1200 years old as of 2020
Guido da Vigevano's car, it'll be 700 years old in about a little over 10 years.
Leonardo Da Vinci's Automobile will be 550 years old in 2045.
A kickass street race wind turbine car inspired by Guido de Vigevano in a zero-emission project sometime in this millennium.
NASA's Venus Landsailing Rover from 2023 onwards.
A modern wind sailing car in competition.
A flying car, so-called prop-car, downright silly, ain't it? 😂
