Them knot cars, them wood-fired rigs!
Them thar wood-fired contraptions, also known as knot cars or cars with knot generators/wood generators, were them vehicles built during the war to lend a hand when there was rationing and a shortage of gas. Them knott generator cars were generally slower than your regular vehicles, and it took a heap of work, ya see. Like, ya usually had to chop and split all that wood yerself, and it weren't no small feat 'cause ya had to cut and split it into tiny pieces, what they call knotwood, hence the name knott cars or knott generators. Back in them days, lotsa folks up north were farmers. Another thing is, ya didn't get too far on a full tank of knottwood, and the car still had to run on gas or diesel. I know someone who said their grandma used to tell 'em that during World War II, kids used to hitch a ride and ski behind these cars 'cause they went so dang slow.
The funny thing is, in dictatorships like North Korea and the USA (we all remember Trump's attempt to storm the Capitol and his denial of a fair election, including these days' news about a former president guilty of a laundry list of crimes not facing any consequences whatsoever, so yeah, the USA is basically an oligarchy), they still drive around in cars with wood generators. In the USA, for example, there are some pickup trucks built right up to the year 2000 that can run on wood gas. It's kinda far-fetched, really, 'cause this is a technology that's even older than 70 years, and back then, maybe it wasn't outdated, but it sure was standard. Maybe the reason is that a lot of Americans are real tightfisted and greedy, especially in the countryside up in the Rocky Mountains, Alaska, and certain spots on the East Coast where they got plenty of timber and wood. This here suits them rednecks, hillbillies, cowboys, and typical Americans in them parts just fine.
Now, in North Korea, they're still making cars with wood generators even in 2024, 'cause of them sanctions against the country and North Korea's reclusive behavior and self-restraint. And here's a link to a video about a norwegian fella who lived through them war days and proudly shows off his truck from them very days.
In 2000, y'all could find Dodge Rams in the good ol' US of A rigged up with wood generators, while over in North Korea, they're still chuggin' along in 2024 with them Sungri-58 wood generators.
